Meet AIIMS MBBS 2017 topper Nishita Purohit who cracked the medical exam in first attempt. Know how the Gujarat girl cracked India's most prestigious medical exam

The All India Institute of Medical Sceince (AIIMS) has announced results for its MBBS 2017 entrance examination on Thursday morning. Candidates can check their AIIMS MBBS result 2017 on its official website aiimsexams.org and also on the on the websites of other six AIIMS (Patna, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Bhubaneshwar, Rishikesh and Raipur). Gujarat’s Nishita Purohit has bagged All India Rank 1 in the prestigious medical exam. The 18-year-old has taken coaching classes in Kota-based Allen Career Institute.

A resident of Gujarat’s Surat district, Nishita secured 91.4% marks in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 board this year, rteports Hindustan Times. Nishita’s father Nirmal Indu is an IIT alumunus and is president of a private firm in Odisha while her mother Himanshu is a homemaker who is a graduate in pharmacy .

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Nishita expressed joy over declared topper in AIIMS entrance exam and said,” “I was not sure about the topper’s rank in AIIMS but was certain about being selected for AIIMS”.

She also recognised the contribution of her coaching institute, her parents and family in her success. “While my coaching institute guided me to success, my mother regularly visited me during my stay in Kota and both she and my brother, Anshul, motivated me to do my best,” she told HT.

Interestingly., Nishita’s elder brother Anshul is also an IIT alumunus and is presently working in USA. Nishita looks up to him for inspiration. Asked how she prepared for the exam, Nishita said she had attended coaching classes for six hours daily and later self-studied for six hours.

She also stressed on the need of classroom learning saying it’s most important thing followed by homework completion on a daily basis and revision. A national level basket ball player, Nishita said played the sport but left it for a medical career as there was not much scope in this field.

However, she quickly added she cowuld continue to play basketball. She also takes intesrst in other sports including short put and discus throw and loves singing and music.
When asked whether she is active on social media, Nishita said, she managed to keep away from social medial platforms while preparing for the AIIMS exam, but did not give up her smartphone. “I did not open a facebook account but used WhatsApp for contacting teacher to clear concepts related to the exam,” she added. Last year, Hyderabad’s Sathvik Reddy Erla bagged AIR 1 in AIIMS MBBS 2016 entrance examination in his very first attempt

-go to the official website aiimsexams.org

-click on the AIIMS MBBS Result 2017 page

-The page will redirect automatically to two pdf files

-The roll number-wise pdf will list out candidates who have passed the entrance exam as per the qualifying criteria.

-The pdf will also consist of candidate’s name, ranks, roll number and percentile score in separate orders along with All India Rank (AIR), name, category and the counselling date allotted to them.
