A man, Kalu alias Kalua, was found murdered in Delhi for having dressed up as the Hindu Goddess Kali. Kalu, who was a devotee of the Goddess, was found with multiple stab wounds on his face, chest and the head.
The incident came to light when Kalu’s body was discovered near in the NSIC jungle in Delhi on the intervening night of May 22 and May 23. According to the police, Kalu was an orphan, who was raised in a dharamshala near the Kalkaji Mandir in South Delhi.
He would wear a black salwar suit with a red chunni and anklets, said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal. Incidentally, the art of dressing up as deities and demons is pretty common among the dwindling tribe of Bohurupees, who sustain their lives by seeking alms.

In connection with the murder, several individuals were questioned by the police, which led to four persons—Naveen (20), Aman Kumar Singh (20), Mohit Kumar (25) and Sajal Kumar Maheshwari (19)—along with three juveniles, being apprehended. During interrogations, it was revealed that the accused were inebriated when they saw Kalu passing by the NSIC jungle gate. Upon seeing him, they mocked Kalu. When Kalu retaliated, the accused dragged him to the jungle and started to thrash him. Later, they stabbed Kalu to death with a Swiss knife, the police reported.

Kalu died on the spot while the four accused fled. His body has now been sent for an autopsy, following which, it will be delivered to his brother for the last rites.
