Lucknow encounter: IS terrorist Saifullah's father calls him 'anti-national', refuses to accept his dead body

Other family members and relatives are still in a state of shock that a boy from their family got involved in such anti-national activities

Hours after the IS militant Saifullah was gunned down by the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) on March 8, the terrorist’s father Sartaj has refused to accept his dead remains for the last rites and called him an anti-national. While speaking to the news agency ANI, Sartaj stated that whatever happened was not in nation’s interest and he will not accept his son’s body.

Sartaj also stated the reason Saifullah left home and became a part of a terrorist outfit. Sartaj said,” A few months back he left home after I beat him up for not working. While on last Monday (February 26) he gave me a call and said that he is leaving India and moving to Saudi Arabia.”

“This was not in country’s interest. We will not accept the body of an anti-national,” said Saifullah’s father Sartaj.

While the other family members and relatives are still in a state of shock that a boy from their family got involved in such anti-national activities. One of Saifulla’s relative stated that he was very well behaved and highly religious. He said,”Everyone in the family is currently in shock. Saifullah was well behaved and he used to perform Namaz 5 times a day. We have never expected this from him.”

The ATS gunned down the suspected ISIS terrorist Saifullah in a house in Thakurganj, on the outskirts of Lucknow. Before his encounter, a 12-hour-long operation was conducted to capture him alive. Saifullah was killed in an exchange of fire with the police. As per reports, Saifullah was a devout member of the Kanpur-Lucknow unit of IS’s Khorasan module.

Based on “concrete” information from intelligence, the ATS had gone to apprehend Saiful who is suspected of involvement in the blast in a train in Madhya Pradesh, from a house in Haji colony of Thakurganj area when he suddenly opened fire on the team.

As per initial reports, it was believed that Saifullah had links with the blast that took place in the Bhopal-Ujjain train on March 7 that left at least 10 people injured. There have been reports that the terror group has been trying to grow its base in India.
