Was this Kashmiri girl footballer really a stone-pelter?

Afshan Ashiq, a soccer player from Kashmir, came into the media spotlight after a photograph of her pelting stones at J&K Police went viral

Afshan Ashiq, a soccer player from Kashmir, came into the media spotlight last year after a photograph of her pelting stones at J&K Police went viral. Since then, she has been labelled as an ‘angry stone-pelter’ by the media, a tag which she clearly doesn’t identify with. In an interview with InUth, she explains how she has been misrepresented for standing up against misbehaviour by the police. She also highlighted the problems she faced after being tagged as a ‘stone-pelter’ but maintained that she would continue fighting for the right cause. She also wished that someday she would be able to remove this tag from her name through sports.
