Techie died in US, wife assaulted by his family during funeral in India

Swathi said that she had medical records to prove that his husband was undergoing psychiatric counselling

The kins of Madhukar Reddy Gurdu, a techie who committed suicide in Unites States, allegedly attacked his wife Swathi when she turned out at his funeral in Hyderabad.

Madhukar’s body was brought back to India for last rites, when Swathi came to see her husband’s body, her in-laws assaulted her in full public eye,alleging she was responsible for his death, reports Times of India. Swathi lodged an FIR at Bhongir police. She also rubbished claims made by her in-laws that she was responsible for his death. The 37-year-old techie was found hanging from a fan in his house in Seattle on April 4.

Attributing his death to depression, Swathi said that she had medical records to prove that his husband was undergoing psychiatric counselling. Swathi and Madhukar both were IT professionals and the couple have a seven-year-old daughter. Swathi, also said that even on the day of his death, he replied to her message. In the afternoon also he replied cheerfully . “However, when I went home in the evening, I found him hanging,” she said.

Swathi also said that she herself had asked for divorce due to his husband’s frequent mood swings. “I told his parents to come to the US and observe him. If his behaviour towards me was abnormal, it meant that he was no longer interested in me and the way out was divorce,” she told a news channel.
