Female journalist allegedly groped at Youth Congress rally in Delhi, files FIR

The woman journalist lodged an FIR with Delhi Police on Thursday alleging she was "groped and pinched" during a Congress rally

A woman journalist, who went to cover ‘Bharat Bachao Andolan’, organised by the Youth Congress members against the NDA government at Jantar Mantar on Thursday was allegedly ‘groped’ by unidentified people in the crowd.

The scribe, who is a senior correspondent at a private news channel, lodged an FIR with Delhi Police on Thursday alleging she was “groped and pinched” during Congress rally in the national capital. A complaint has been registered against the unidentified individuals at Parliament Street police station. Eminent Congress leaders Raj Babbar and Ahmed Patel were also present in the rally. The journo took to micro blogging site Twitter to share her harrowing experience.

Condemning the incident, the national spokesperson of Youth Congress Amrish Ranjan Pandey said someone in the crowd “took advantage of the situation”. He assured to “extend all the help” to the journalist to ensure that the guilty were punished.

In a series of tweets, she said:

“I am a journalist. I got groped during a @IYC rally where speeches were made against the govt’s failure to maintain law&order. #YesAllWomen (sic),” she tweeted.

She also tweeted how people are questioning her why she went into the crowd.
