‘Cried as I got emotional when a senior supported me’, says IPS officer who was insulted publicly by BJP MLA

The incident took place after local women protested against the sale of illegal liquor in the Koilhwa village

IPS officer Charu Nigam, who cried in public after a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Radha Mohan Agrawal lashed out on her in Gorakhpur has reacted on the incident after a video went viral in which the MLA was yelling at the officer.

IPS Nigam said, ‘I didn’t cry on MLA’s words, just got emotional when a senior officer took stand for me.’ ‘Does police have no right to ask one to move aside?’ she further added.

The incident took place after local women protested against the sale of illegal liquor in the Koilhwa village.

IPS Nigam posted took to Facebook and posted a message after the incident.

According to reports, the police were making efforts to maintain the law and order. However, the police had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd after the protestors reportedly started pelting stones on the officials.

Soon after this MLA Radha Mohan rushed to the spot and got into a heated argument with the IPS officer. In the video, MLA can be seen telling IPS Nigam that he was not speaking to her and would only speak to her senior even as the IPS officer continued to explain him the situation.

Meanwhile, after the incident, Radha Mohan said, “this is the height of indiscipline that MLA is talking to SDM & IPS Charu interrupted. Don’t demand any action against her.”

In the video, Radha Mohan said, “main aapse baat nahin kar raha hoon. Mujhe tum kuch na batao. Chup raho tum. Bardasht ke bahar mat.”

“I am in-charge. The law and order was being breached. I know what I am doing,” she told the MLA but the MLA refused to listen to her. However, IPS Nigam’s senior rushed to the spot and spoke to MLA.
