Class 5 student from Delhi dies after allegedly being beaten up by classmates

The deceased child told his parents that he had a fight with two-three of his classmates

A class 5th student from Delhi who was allegedly beaten up by his classmates on Friday has succumbed to his injuries. 11-year-old student Vishal, a Class 5 student studied in a local school in north west Delhi’s Rohini. His parents have alleged that their son was beaten up by his school classmates on Friday.

He was admitted to Ambedkar Hospital after he complained of severe pain in his stomach. He was later referred to the Safdarjung Hospital where he breathed his last on Saturday night.

His parents said that Vishal did not inform them about the fight on Friday but later on Saturday he told them that he had a tiff with two-three of his classmates. He then complained of massive pain in his stomach after which he was taken to the hospital. The fight, he said, was over some petty issue.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rishi Pal said that as per the medical examination, there were no external marks of injury on Vishal’s body. Acting on the complaint of the parents, a medical board is being formed to conduct a post-mortem to know the cause of the death. A resident of Rohini in Delhi, Vishal had two younger siblings.

The incident comes close on heels of a similar case in Assam where a student of Class 7 was allegedly bullied by two of the senior students. The student identified as Namish Ganeriwal belonging to Assam Valley School had to be admitted to the ICU after he sustained severe injuries. The incident was posted by his aunt on Facebook where she said that the boy was so serious that he had to undergo a jaw surgery at Nemcare hospital.
