Caught on Camera: Jailed ex-MLA abuses Mumbai cop, inquiry ordered

In a recent incident that has come to light, a jailed MLA hurled abuses at the police officer outside the Byculla jail in Mumbai. Reason being, the van which had to take the MLA to the hospital for a medical check-up got late. Meanwhile, an inquiry has been ordered in the case.

The incident which took place on Thursday morning was recorded on the cellphone by one of the constables who was present there. The lawmaker in the video has been identified as former NCP MLA Ramesh Kadam who is lodged in the prison for his alleged involvement in Rs 365 crore scam.

According to a report in the Times of India, the whole incident occurred when former MLA Ramesh Kadam was waiting outside the jail for a van to go to JJ Hospital for his medical examination, ‘lost his cool’ when the assistant police inspector Manoj Pawar asked him to wait as there was some time in the arrival of the van.

To which Ramesh Kadam said to the police inspector, “You don’t know who I am”. He told the police officer to let him go back in the jail as he does not want to go the hospital. Ramesh Kadam also demanded that the camera should be turned off.

After the incident police approached the Nagapda police station. The Joint police commissioner (law and order) said “We have asked Akhilesh Singh (DCP zone-III) to inquire into the matter. We will take action as per the findings of the probe report.”
