Days after the fake forms of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” scheme of the centre surfaced in the state of Uttar Pradesh, it is now being circulated or rather sold in the national capital. Unidentified persons are apparently distributing fake forms of the Beti Bachao scheme for Rs 5- 10 by telling the parents that the scheme will provide Rs 2 lakh monetary benefit to the girl child.
However, in reality, the scheme launched by the Union ministry for women and child development ensures survival & protection of the girl child and do not provide any cash benefit at all. The ministry has been receiving a number of forms with the people seeking to get Rs 2 Lakh benefit.
Following this, the ministry issued a disclaimer saying that they had been receiving reports of fake forms being distributing in exchange for and requested people to not fall into the trap. The ministry further affirmed that the scheme had no provision for cash transfer component.
“It has come to the notice of Women and Child development, government of India that certain unauthorised sites/organisations/NGOs/individuals are distributing forms in the name of cash incentive under the Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao scheme. The scheme has no provision for individual cash transfer component by government of India. It is not Direct Benefit Transfer (DBD)” the ministry released a statement adding that the scheme focuses to challenge the mindsets of deep rooted “patriarchy in the societal system.”
The ministry further affirmed that it was a “illegal” practice and that people should report to their nearest police stations immediately if they come across any such incidents. The statement added that people should not share any personal details in this regard. A FIR has also been filed in connection with this case.
The areas that have been affected in Delhi include Dakshinpuri Extension, Sangam Vihar, Tikri, Bhatti Khurd,Sanjay Colony and Sarita Vihar.
