Army recruitment exam cancelled in centres of Pune Zone, after paper gets leaked

Late night on February 25, Thane crime branch had arrested around 350 students on the suspicion of their involvement in the paper leak

The army recruitment exam for various posts were cancelled in the centres of Pune zone on February 26, after the news of paper leak got confirmed.

Senior Police of Thane Crime Branch Unit-1, Niteen Thackeray said, exam paper were allegedly given to the students by the coaching institutes and some army employees to write the answers in lodges and other places .

Late night on February 25, the Thane crime branch had arrested around 350 students and as many as 18 people were too detained from Nagpur, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Goa on the suspicion of their involvement in the paper leak, a police officer informed.

In lieu of question paper, students were allegedly asked to pay Rs 4-5 lakh each. While students were writing the papers, the Thane police raided at several places where exam was taking place following a tip-off.

Soldier clerk and soldier tradesman were also the posts for which exam was being conducted across 52 centres in India and Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Goa, Kamptee, Ahmednagar and Kirkee are the test centres where exam got cancelled.

The probe in the case is on as police is trying to find out the kingpin in the case. As the news of paper leak broke out, Army has ordered a probe.
