Air India passengers allegedly made to sit for more than 3 hours without AC inside aircraft

Passengers of an Air India flight allegedly had to sit in the aircraft for three hours without air conditioning due to a technical snag. Around 282 passengers who were on board had a harrowing time on a Delhi-bound flight from Mumbai.

Air India (AI) flight 809 which was scheduled to take off from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 11:15 AM for Delhi, took off after a delay of nearly three-and-half hours. One of the passengers also tweeted the photo from the flight.

He wrote that the AC was not working for past one and half hours of the wait time. As per the source, “During this period, all the passengers remained seated in the glitch-hit plane”.

When tried to reach out to the Air India, its spokesperson said that technical glitch led to the delay in departure of its Mumbai-Delhi flight. “Air India has ordered an inquiry to find out the glitch in the plane just before its departure,” an Air India spokesperson said. He also confirmed that there were around 282 passengers on board.

A few days back, the national air carrier has announced that it will no longer serve non-vegetarian food to the passengers in the Economy class on domestic flights. In a statement issued by Air India, it said that the decision has been taken to reduce wastage, reduce cost and improve catering service. AI in the statement said, “Air India has taken a conscious decision not to have non-veg meals in economy class on its domestic flights”.
