After Amma's death, Panneerselvam urged me to be Tamil Nadu CM: Sasikala Natarajan

Meanwhile, DMK working President M.K. Stalin said, "People of Tamil Nadu did not vote for anyone from Jayalalithaa's household to become CM".

As Sasikala Natarajan has been elected as the new legislative head of AIADMK, she while addressing party workers said, “It was Thiru.O. Paneerselvam who insisted first, that I become the Chief Minister of the State”. Sasikala, who is fondly called as Chinnamma among the party workers is set to be the new CM of state, as Pannerselvam has resigned from the post.

Sasikala, at a party’s headquarter in Chennai assured that the Tamil Nadu government will follow the principles of Amma and will always work for the welfare of the people.

Meanwhile, opposition seems to be in shock over the new development in the state, DMK working President M.K. Stalin said, “People of Tamil Nadu did not vote for anyone from Jayalalithaa’s household to become CM”. Sasikala has no experience and we can not accept her as the CM, he added.

Party members outside the AIADMK head quarters said we are very happy and hope that Sasikala Natarjan becomes CM as she’ll follow Jayalalithaa’s steps.

Sasikala, will be the third women Chief Minister of the state. In a huge development, the AIADMK MLAs have elected the AIADMK General Secretary, Sasikala Natarajan as the Legislative party leader.

Speculations were rife that Sasikala, close aide of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa who passed away last year, was all set to replace Panneerselvam as the Chief Minister. If media reports are to be believed Sasikala is expected to take the oath on February 8 or 9.

Sasikala, who was once sacked from AIADMK’s primary membership by Jayalalithaa for anti party activities, is leading the AIADMK, the second largest opposition party in the Lok Sabha with 37 members. The party also has 13 members in Rajya Sabha.
