4.0 magnitude earthquake hits Gujarat; no casualties reported

An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on Richter scale shook Gujarat's Rapar area at 2:45 pm on March 5. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on Richter scale shook Gujarat’s Rapar area at 2:45 pm on March 5. However, no casualties have been reported so far. The epicenter of the quake was 17 km away from Rapar in Kutch district. The tremors were also felt in Bachau town as well.

Kutch District Collector M A Gandhi said, no casualties have been reported.

Gandhi further asserted, “as a precautionary measure, the National Disaster Response Force has decided to deploy its two teams, one each at Rapar and Bhachau.”

According to PTI “An earthquake of 4.0 intensity on the Richter scale was recorded with its epicenter being 17 km from Rapar town in Kutch district,” an official from Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) said.

Earlier on March 2, low intensity earthquake hit Himachal Pradesh. The quake measuring 3.8 on richter scale was reported at 1 .39 a.m.
