Pune: 25-Year-Old Infosys Techie strangled to death, security guard arrested

A 25-year-old woman was strangulated to death in her Infosys office. She was strangulated to death with her computer chord.

A 25-year-old woman working in Infosys was strangled to death at her office on January 29 in Pune. The police has arrested the security guard working in the office in connection with the murder case.

According to reports, the police found her body in the conference room of the office on the ninth floor of the company building in Hinjewadi IT Park. The cause of the death has not been ascertained as yet. Reports suggest that the accused strangled the woman with the help of the computer cord in her cabin. The police has registered a case of murder.

The accused hailed from Assam and was arrested when is he was making an attempt to flee at Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station in Mumbai. “The incident might have taken place around 5 PM but we received a call around 8 PM. Raju was employed as a software engineer by the firm,” the police said. The accused has been identified as Bhaben Saikia.

Infosys, released a statement saying that they were shocked to learn the death of their employee and would assist the police in further investigation.

The girl, who was working in Infosys as a software engineer. was in the office and was scheduled to make a call to her colleagues and discuss a project based in Bangalore. However, when she did not receive calls made by her colleagues, they informed the security guards who found her dead in the conference room.

“She was found dead on the ninth floor of the building in the conference room. Primary probe suggests that she has been strangulated with a cable of the computer,” the police said.

They further asserted that there were injury marks and strangulation mark on her neck.
