In a world overflowing with super-spies like James Bond, George Smiley, Jack Ryan and even Jason Bourne – the onus of distinguishing Ethan Hunt from the crowd fell completely on veteran Hollywood actor Tom Cruise. And boy, has he relished the challenge each time. In his own way, he has pushed the boundaries of the big-screen spectacle without ever trespassing into the Fast & Furious sector.
Whether it is climbing to the top of Burj Khalifa without a harness, or jumping from one building to another and breaking his ankle, Tom Cruise never uses stunt doubles. And if the trailer for latest Mission Impossible: Fallout is any indication, then the legend of Tom Cruise is only set to grow bigger.
Here, he’s reuniting with Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie.
It’s said that to conceptualise great action set-pieces one has to become a child all over again, and 55-year-old Tom Cruise seems to have carefully preserved that child within him. For no one makes preposterous, filmy action movies like Mr Cruise does.
Mission Impossible regulars like Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson are joined by the likes of Henry Cavill and Angela Bassett in this one. Just check out the hand-to-hand combat scene between Superman and Ethan Hunt with Imagine Dragons’ Friction playing in the background.
Here’s the trailer:
How can you say no to a trailer like that? Mission Impossible: Fallout releases on July 27, 2018.
