The One Rani Mukerji Blockbuster You Did Not Know About

Did you know Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat wasn't Rani Mukerji's debut film?

Actress Rani Mukerji turned 40 recently and her movie Hichki releases on March 23. Rani has enthralled the audience for over two decades with memorable roles in movies like Yuva, Saathiya, Black and No One Killed Jessica. She would be seen onscreen in Hichki, four years after she featured in her last Bollywood movie, Mardaani (2014).

Only a few would know that Rani’s first movie wasn’t Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1997). Her father, late Ram Mukherjee, launched his daughter in a Bengali movie in 1996 that went on to become a blockbuster. Ram directed Rani in Biyer Phool, which starred Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee and Indrani Haldar. But, did you know that Prosenjit was also married to Rani’s aunt, Deboshree Roy. The couple got divorced in 1995.

Also, Biyer Phool was a remake of Mala Sinha-Dharmendra-Tanuja-starrer, Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi (1966).
