Like most Rajkumar Hirani fans if you’ve been on tenterhooks about the upcoming trailer of Sanju, then relax. It only just dropped and Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of a deeply flawed Sanjay Duty looks pretty spot on.

Like he says in the opening seconds – “main bewda hoon, tharki hoon… terrorist nahi hoon” clearing all doubts whether they will be side-stepping his vices and drawing a line in the sand between a brat and a criminal. And from the looks of it, they’re embracing the roller-coaster that is Sanjay Dutt’s life – from the lighthearted vignettes to the man’s darker episodes inside jail, the death of his parents and his drug episodes.
The trailer also introduces us to the film’s ensemble cast including the likes of Manisha Koirala, Boman Irani, Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, Paresh Rawal, Sonam Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal (featuring in one of the best moments in the trailer).
And as visible from that last scene featuring Mahesh Manjrekar, it will be full of madcap stories. It might or might not be a perfect retelling of his life – but, it might actually end up capturing the essence of Sanjay Dutt – the man.
