Padmavati row: After Karni Sena, Hindu Sena issues threat to Sanjay Leela Bhansali

This comes days after few members of the Karni Sena had attacked Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the sets of Padmavati in Jaipur.

Just days after the members of the Karni Sena attacked filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and vandalised the sets of his upcoming movie, Padmavati, a member of Hindu Sena has staged a protest against the movie saying that they will not let Bollywood “demean” the “culture”.

According to reports, the Hindu Sena has also issued a death threat to the members of the film fraternity if they support the movie. They have further threatened Bhansali that the party members will not allow them to shoot in Mumbai and if they still do, they would break the sets of the film. Meanwhile, the Hindu Sena has reportedly said that they will take stern action against the person who had issued the threat. Some protesters have even gone ahead to burn Bhansali’s effigies.

Meanwhile, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav extended support to Bhansali and urged him to shoot in the state of Bihar if he wished to. It’s been three days since the filmmaker was slapped and manhandled on the sets of Padmavati in Jaipur. However, no arrests have been made as yet.

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu also assured that strict action would be taken against those who manhandled Sanjay Leela Bhansali and disturbed Padmavati shoot. He also asked the Rajasthan government to intervene and arrest the attackers.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, on January 28 cancelled his shoot in Jaipur and the crew members returned back to Mumbai. Lokendra Singh Kalvi, the Founder of Rajput Karni Sena, the group that attacked filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and vandalised the set of Padmavati in Jaipur stuck to his stand saying that the things that are not present in the history cannot be shown. He even put forth demands stating that they would not tolerate any intimate scenes in the movie while threatening the filmmaker to stop the film just like they stopped Joddha-Akbar.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ran into huge trouble when members of Karni Sena protested on the sets of Padmavati in Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur. SLB was assaulted and slapped on the sets by few members of the group. To control the situation, his bodyguard is reported to have fired in air. The group is said to have problems with the way Rani Padmini of Chittor is being portrayed in the film.
