Dear RGV, trolling SS Rajamouli for promoting 'gay culture' isn't funny. Not when Sec 377 is a reality

SS Rajamouli shared a photo featuring him posing on a couch with Ram Charan Teja and Jr NTR

We have all learnt to take Ram Gopal Varma and his rants with a pinch of salt. The filmmaker, who has successfully managed to wipe the fond memories of classics like Satya, Shiva and Rangeela with monstrosities like Guns and Thighs and Not a love story goes on social media rants every now and then. And most of these rants are so ridiculously misogynistic that you have no choice but to ignore them.

His latest Twitter outburst, however, might have some problematic implications. On Saturday, November 18, Baahubali director SS Rajamouli shared a photo, dropping hints about his next project. Along with SS Rajamouli, the photo features Ram Charan Teja and Jr NTR posing on a couch and it is rumoured that they are going to be in the cast of his next film.

The photo certainly excited the director’s fans.  However, for reasons known best to him, Ram Gopal Varma chose to crack a gay on a picture of three men sitting together.

RGV took to Instagram and shared the same picture with the caption, “Being an ardent worshipper of women I strongly condemn such blatent (sic) promotion of gay culture.”

Because, men showing even a hint of physical affection towards each other is a big threat to RGV’s concept of masculinity.

Thankfully, not many Instagrammers found the post funny:

It is important to note that section 377 of the IPC criminalises sexual activities “against the order of nature”, arguably including homosexual activities.

This is not the first time Ram Gopal Varma has made blatant homophobic statements or misused social media for his personal gains.  Earlier this year, the filmmaker shared an inappropriate photograph of Sania Mirza to promote his movie Meri Beti Sunny Leone Banna Chaahti Hai. He also gave nasty comments on Tiger Shroff, Vidyut Jammwal, Sri Devi, Sunny Leone and the list goes on.
