Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha benefited by a partial holiday on Monday as the film raked in around Rs 12 crore on its fourth day, taking the total collections to Rs 64 crore.

The Monday collections of the film are just a little lower than those on Friday, which suggest that the word of mouth is on the positive side. The film has performed exceptionally at Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, East Punjab, Gujarat and Mumbai. The unconventional non-Hindi film belts like Mysore, Kolkata are also holding quite well which has the film stand a solid chance to emerge Akshay Kumar’s biggest grosser till date by surpassing Rowdy Rathore (Rs 133 crore).

Day Wise Box Office Collection:

  • Friday: Rs 13.10 crore
  • Saturday: Rs 17.10 crore
  • Sunday: Rs 15.25 crore
  • Monday: Rs 12.00 crore
  • Total: Rs 63.45 crore

The collections of the film are expected to grow further on Tuesday on account of Independence Day holiday and it would be interesting to see if it manages to reach the Sunday collection numbers. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is already deemed a super hit and the trend at the Box Office from hereon would decide the Blockbuster status of the film.

Though the critic reviews of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha turned out to be mixed, however, a good word of mouth has ensured a successful venture for the makers. The Sree Narayan Singh directorial has ended the drought at the Box Office that started post Hindi Medium.  A restrained budget, contemporary subject and Akshay Kumar’s popularity are the primary reasons for success of the film.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has surpassed the lifetime collections of Jab Harry Met Sejal in just 4 days and is likely to become the sixth highest grossing film of the year after Baahubali 2, Raees, Tubelight, Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Jolly LLB 2 in just five days.

The social drama is the fifth consecutive hit for Akshay Kumar after Airlift, Housefull 3, Rustom and Jolly LLB 2.
