World Music Day: Shalmali Kholgade to Monica Dogra, singers share their all time favourite old tracks

On World Music Day today, singers including Monica Dogra, Shalmali Kholgade, Jonita Gandhi and Tanvi Shah reveal their all-time favourite old track

As the world is celebrating the World Music Day today, famous singers including  Tanvi Shah, Jonita Gandhi, ShalmaliKholgade, and Monica Dogra shared that they would love to try old songs. They have lent their voices in many popular Bollywood movies, but the young and talented singers shared their views and revealed that if ever gets a chance they would love to sing popular old tracks including  Lag Ja Gale, Ja Ja Bewafa and Chalte Chalte Yuhi Koi among others.

Here we bring to you a list of four singers who shared their thought on the occasion of World Music Day. Have a look wat they have to say:

Tanvi Shah- “The retro song I would have loved to sing: it would have been Jaane Jaan Dhoondta from Jawani Diwani – am a very big fan of Asha Tai and I just love the way the song has the different octaves and parts blended so well”

Jonita Gandhi- “Lag Ja Gale is my all time favourite. I would never want to sing it though, no one can match the original. This is a song I feel like incorporating every single time I perform with my band”.

Shalmali Kholgade- “I love how fluid and beautifully naughty the song Ja Ja Bewafa is. Coupled with this are Geeta Dutt’s tender voice and the way she renders the song”. Established herself as one of the leading playback singers in the Hindi film indutsy, Shalmali is best known for her songs like Pareshaan, Daaru Desi and Mohobbat Buri Bemari among others.

Monica Dogra- “Chalte Chalte Yuhi Koi. My mom sings that song and it always makes me tear up a little bit. It’s one of the most beautiful ballads of its time and I’ve always wished that I could write a song that would be relevant decades later”
