Ever since the makers announced a sequel to Salman Khan’s 2014 release Kick, fans are curious to know who the leading lady will be. It was earlier reported that Jacqueline Fernandez will play the female lead, like in the first part, but now, things might have changed. Now, according to a recent development, rumours have it that Deepika Padukone might replace Jacqueline Fernandez to romance Salman in Kick 2.
Apparently, the makers want a fresh pairing for the upcoming sequel who hasn’t worked with the star yet and they feel Deepika is the perfect choice for the film. Talking to a leading daily, a source close to the project revealed:
“Deepika Padukone is being considered for Kick 2 with the film going on floors sometime next year. As Jacqueline and Salman are already working together in Race 3, it only makes sense to give the audience a fresh pairing. However, the final call is up to Sajid and Salman.”

Though the final announcement of the same has not been made yet, it will be interesting to see if the Bajirao Mastani actress will give her nod to star opposite Salman, as she was reportedly refused to work with the actor in Sultan earlier. However, the actress expressed her interest to work with him, but only for a right film. Talking about the same, earlier she was quoted as saying:
I want to do a film with him, but it has to be the right film at the right time,” she had stated. Industry insiders point out that Deepika has long been part of the “Shah Rukh Khan camp”. But now that SRK and Salman have buried their animosity, will “camp members” be allowed to cross over to the “other side”?
On the work front, Deepika will next be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. Slated to hit the screen by the end of this year, the film also features Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in the main lead.
