Farhan Akhtar and Annu Kapoor are perfect conmen in the trailer of The Fakir of Venice [Watch Video]

Farhan Akhtar and Annu Kapoor share screen space for the first time in The Fakir of Venice

Farhan Akhtar and Annu Kapoor feature in Anand Surapur’s The Fakir of Venice, and the film’s trailer was recently unveiled. It is the story of two conmen roped in to find a fakir willing to bury himself in the sand for an art project in picturesque Venice.

The film will release after a delay of nine years. It was supposed to mark Farhan Akhtar’s acting debut before being shelved. The 2-minute long trailer shows a young Farhan playing a man called Adi Contractor who agrees to find a fakir who can volunteer for an art project in Venice. While traveling throughout the country, he meets Sattar (Annu Kapoor) who is apparently a painter by profession.

As far as the trailer suggests, Sattar is a drunkard and manages to impress Adi due to his ability to bury himself in the sand. Soon, the duo travels to Venice as required by the client. Sattar’s quirky mannerisms do leave us in splits. We get to see a young Annu Kapoor as the film is reportedly 9 years old. What many of us don’t know is that The Fakir of Venice was supposed to be Akhtar’s debut film.

Annu Kapoor was recently seen in Akshay Kumar’s courtroom drama Jolly LLB 2 that turned out to be a commercial success. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had posted the first look of the film early this year.

On the other hand, Farhan was last seen in Rock On 2, that could not do well at the Box Office. Currently, he is shooting for Lucknow Central, which has Diana Penty paired opposite him. Directed by Nikhil Advani, the film is the story of a jail and it’s inmates and will release on September 15.
