Censor Board likely to clear Padmavati after changing the title to 'Padmavat'

A panel of six people including the former royals and historians sat down to examine Padmavati with the CBFC

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati might soon get clearance from the Censor Board of Film Certification with a minor change. The movie might now be called Padmavat.

As per ANI, once ‘the required and agreed modifications are made, the CBFC would issue a UA certificate to the movie’.

Since January this year, various Rajput groups were protesting against the movie alleging that the movie had a ‘dream kissing sequence’ between Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh) and Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone).

Meanwhile, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi of Rajput Karni Sena told ANI:

Our people will be outside cinema halls & each hall which shows the film will be vandalised. Members of committee formed to review the film have opposed it but censor board is taking this decision due to underworld pressure.”

Although Sanjay Leela Bhansali clarified that there was no such scene in the movie, the controversy around the movie refused to die. So much so that in November BJP state media coordinator of  Haryana, Suraj Pal Amu declared a bounty of Rs 10 crore on the heads of Bhansali and Padukone. The movie was banned in several BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and finally, the movie’s release got deferred indefinitely.
