Rajasthan has turned out to be 'home away from home' while shooting for 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' for Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.

Rajasthan has turned out to be ‘home away from home’ while shooting for ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ for Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Promoting their upcoming film ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ in Jaipur, Varun said, “We have made an emotional bond with Rajasthan thanks to our extended shooting schedule in Jaipur and Kota.”

Alia and Varun shot for several sequences in both Jaipur and Kota in the summer last year. Alia is playing a Kota girl, while Varun plays a Jhansi boy in the film.

Recalling her experience Alia said, waking up to the sounds of peacocks and watching squirrels outside the hotel window had become a routine for us!”

Alia went on ahead and said, “itne din Kota mein rehne ke baad mujhe lagne laga tha ki main Kota mein sabko janti hoon. Har roz kitne log humein shooting set par milne aate thay.”

While sharing his experiences Varun told several incidents. He told, “once we were shooting in Chambal River, which is famous for its crocodile population. Me and my co-actor Saahil were sitting in a boat and after reaching in the middle of the river we saw a huge crocodile coming closer to our boat. We did not know what to do or how to inform our crew members, who were at a jetty nearby. We kept our calm and thankfully, the boatman had the presence of mind and he quickly turned the boat so that we could reach the bank in time,” Varun recalled.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Badrinath Ki Dulhania is set in Jhansi. The trailer hinted the film won’t be another cliched love story of Bollywood. The part where Alia Bhatt’s character Vaidehi said she liked her self-respect more than love pointed out it the film would be nothing like seen before. The film is slated for release on 10 March.
