Bollywood condemns Ae Dil Hai Mushkil ban

Industry peers come out in support of Karan Johar

The controversy around Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has taken a new turn. Before it was MNS opposing the release of the film, now it is Cine Owners Association in Maharashtra who claim that they can’t let the Karan Johar’s film release. The association has also claimed to reach out to cine owners in other states to stand on same decision.

Though Karan Johar might be facing a lot of troubles — first with the political party MNS and now with Cinema Owner Association banning the release of his upcoming film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, his industry peers come out in support of him, saying that the movie should be released.

Filmmaker Anand L Rai feels that the movie should be allowed to release. He said, “First and foremost I am with my nation at that point of time (Uri attack) understanding the emotion, but at the same time now here we are talking about a film which was shot earlier when there was no tension, then why are we creating a problem for the film, which was done before this issue. That time Karan Johar had no idea about this.”

He adds, “Today if you ask me If I will make a film with Pakistani actors, I will say no. Till the time things are not sorted out between my country and the other country I will not. But what has already happened I can’t wipe out that. Even I used an actor from Pakistan in Happy Bhaag Jayegi, but today I won’t work with them, till both the countries are again on the same page and in talking terms. When something is shot how can you wipe that out, this will create the problem for my people, and not for a Pakistani producer.”

Director-Producer Atul Agnihotri also shared his sentiments saying, “It doesn’t sound fair at all, so I am hoping that they resolve it. It is very unfortunate for any filmmaker if it does not release its traumatic for anyone.”

Like I always artistes always have one agenda that is to bring peace and harmony in everything that they do. I hope people can understand this. So I really hope that all of us can come to a place where we have that peace and understanding between each other,” concludes Shilpa.
