Anil Kapoor on the Abhay Deol-Sonam Kapoor troll fest: 'kids can handle things on their own'

Anil Kapoor was asked what he felt about Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor's tussle.

Actor Anil Kapoor addressed the fiasco between his daughter Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol by saying it was a trivial matter. Speaking at an event recently, Anil said he would prefer to not speak on the matter of kids and said that Sonam was sensible enough to handle these things on her own. Anil was asked about what he felt about the incident and he had a very diplomatic reply.

The Dil Dhadakne Do star was quoted by a leading daily as, “Sonam will be the right person to speak about this. If there is a crucial matter or anything I will talk about it; don’t involve me into these small things”

Abhay Deol brought out to notice everything that was wrong about celebrities endorsing fairness creams. He called out celebs like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra, for not taking a stand and promoting fairness creams.

This post by Abhay Deol did not go down well with his Raanjhnaa co-star Sonam Kapoor. She dug out an old advertisement that featured Esha Deol, Abhay’s cousin. This tweet got Sonam trolled and she later deleted it. After this tweet exchange, it became evident that maybe not all is well between Sonam and Abhay.

When Abhay was asked about this, he told Mumbai Mirror, “I have nothing personal against them. I put up the post because I was tired of celebrities and brands telling me that they are simply propagating a regressive message which has existed in our society for hundreds of years. The frustration comes from the fact that by cashing in on it we’re only perpetuating it further. So, since this is not about Sonam and me, let’s stick to the issue at hand, shall we?”

Abhay stressed on the fact that the larger issue was important. He also added, “I have my faults too; I’m not holier than thou. I only wish to stop reinforcing a myth so we can deal with the real problem. Some people will take offence to everything. That’s okay”
