Ajay Devgn to play the titular role in Taanaji Malusare's biopic titled Taanaji. Will this be Bollywood's answers to SS Rajamouli's Baahubali Franchise?

Ajay Devgn made an attempt to raise the bar of action in Hindi Cinema with Shivaay. Despite getting panned by the critics, the film managed to reach a respectable total at the box-office. The actor also had grand plans to make a film on the infamous Battle of Saragarhi, however, it seems that the idea has been put on a back-burner.

Instead of Battle of Saragarhi, the actor has announced a film on the life of warrior, Taanaji Malusare. The actor took to twitter to unveil the first look poster of the epic period drama.

Taanaji Malusare has found a place in the rich history of India and is known for showing his loyalties for Chhatrapati Shivaji. The film, titled Taanaji would be a tribute to the unsung hero of Indian history who fought for the country and his people.

Taanaji marks the Hindi film debut of acclaimed Marathi director, Om Raut. The director’s last release, Lokmanya: Ek Yug Purush, which was based on the life of Bal Gangadhar Tilak won over the critics and audiences alike and went on to emerge a huge success at the box-office.
