Uttarakhand election result 2017 Exit Poll Highlights: BJP set to uproot Congress, might get 46-53 seats

The BJP is set to wrest power in Uttarakhand, winning 46-53 seats in the 70-member assembly, according to an India Today-Axis My India exit poll

The exit polls for the Uttarakhand Assembly elections are out and according to the media reports, it’s the Bharatiya Janata Party who is supposed to form a government in the state. As per India Today-Axis My India exit poll, the BJP is set to wrest power in Uttarakhand, winning 46-53 seats in the 70-member assembly while the India News-MRC and ABP-Lokniti predicted 38 and 34-42 seats for BJP while 30 and 23-29 seats for Congress respectively.

Assembly elections in Uttarakhand ended peacefully on February 15 and the exit polls are out on March 9 at 5:30 pm. The high-pitched battle fought mainly between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. Maximum voting was reported from Haridwar (65 per cent) — where Chief Minister Harish Rawat is a candidate in one of the constituencies — followed by 63 per cent in Uttarkashi. There were 14,771 polling centres and 23,693 polling stations were set up in the districts of Pilibhit, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Kheri, Bijnor, Rampur, Bareilly, Amroha, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur and Badaun, there were proper security arrangements on each polling station in order to ensure peaceful polling, said election officials.
