The BJP president blamed Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government for deteriorating law and order situation the state.

Amit Shah is promising vigilante squads to check eve-teasing in colleges across Uttar Pradesh should Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) get voted to power in this month’s state election. “In Uttar Pradesh, every college would be provided with the anti-Romeo squad. Our girls would be safeguarded. These anti-Romeo squad would allow the girls to study without fear in college campuses.”

Addressing an election rally in Meerut, the BJP president blamed Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government for deteriorating law and order situation the state.

Shah was quoted as saying, “The law and order machinery is so weak that they have no fear of anyone before casting their evil eyes on our girls. But believe me, if the BJP comes to power, we will safeguard the honour and chastity of our girls.”

The election to form the next government in the state begin on Feb 11 and will go on until March 7, being held in seven phases.

The city of Meerut, which has seven constituencies and where Shah made his speech, goes polling in the first phase itself.
