For some time negotiation were going on over the seat sharing in the polls. While briefing the press on January 20, the Vice President of the Samajwadi Party Kironmoy Nanda told the press personnel that the alliance is not yet declared and is a personal opinion of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. He said,”We’ll fight on 300+ seats. The number of seats to be given to Congress is subject to adjustment and discussion after the alliance happens.”
He earlier had said that “We are planning to allot 54 seats to Congress or we may give 25-30 more to them after the discussion which is around 80 or so. But it will be cleared only after the alliance is announced officially.”
