UP elections 2017: Watch Samajwadi Party leader calling PM Narendra Modi a 'terrorist'

This isn't the first time that Modi has been called a "terrorist" by rival politicians.

A Samajwadi Party (SP) leader on Sunday called Narendra Modi a “terrorist”, remarking that the Prime Minister was trying to “terrorise” the voters of Uttar Pradesh into voting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) this Uttar Pradesh election. In the same remarks, SP leader Rajendra Chaudhary criticised BJP president Amit Shah for “misleading” UP voters.

His statements are being seen as reaction to Modi’s election meeting comments at Fatehpur, where the PM stoked controversy by citing Hindu and Muslim festivals to make a point about religious equality. Chaudhary made his remarks during a press conference, organised on the day when the politically crucial state conducted the third phase of voting in the seven-phase election.

The comments were reported by video news agency ANI, which also quoted the loudmouth leader calling both Modi and Shah as “magicians” from Gujarat who were trying to “change the face of UP politics.” Scroll down for the video.

Chaudhary also reportedly said at the press conference,

“Our Prime Minister feels that holding a top position nationally has a lot of impact on states. This is not true. I feel he has no regrets in lying.”

The SP leader also launched a scathing attack on the BJP, whose leaders led by Modi, are vying hard to make a political comeback in Uttar Pradesh state politics.

“UP locals very well understand the BJP ideology and will not fall for it. There is no place for Hindu-Muslim clashes in UP.”

This isn’t the first time that Modi has been called a “terrorist” by rival politicians. In the lead up to the 2014 national election that witnessed Modi’s BJP winning power in a landslide, a state minister dubbed the BJP stalwart as “the biggest terrorist.”

Bihar’s Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh was quoted as saying in Nov 2013, “Narendra Modi is the biggest terrorist in the country and it is only natural that he talks about threat to the country from terrorists. One who kills others feels threatened and always moves around security in the fear that he might be killed.”
