UP Election Results 2017: SP confident about victory, Cong defends Akhilesh's olive branch to Mayawati

Buoyed over the exit poll results, Bharatiya Janata Party is expecting a clean sweep in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017

With just few minutes left for the counting of votes for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017, Samajwadi Party has expressed confidence that it will be slip back to power.

Party’s state spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said,”SP-Congress alliance will win today and we will expose the people who were conspiring against CM.”

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party workers today performed a hawan in Lucknow praying for party’s victory.

Buoyed over the exit poll results, Bharatiya Janata Party is also expecting a clean sweep in the assembly elections.

Party’s BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya has said that the party will emerge victorious with 2/3rd majority.

“We are winning with 2/3rd majority, SP and BSP will be wiped out,” Maurya told ANI.

Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Raj Babbar, however, played down the exit poll results. Babbar also defended Akhilesh for extending an olive branch to the BSP, saying it is a “vision and not desperation of a young leader”. “We are going to form the next government,” he added.

The SP sought to pick holes in the surveys, terming these as “nonsensical” and “influenced”.

Dismissing the exit poll results, the Congress said that the poll outcome will be in its favour.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury questioned that authenticity of the surveys.
