Amid the ongoing the political tussle in the state of Manipur, Nongthombam Biren Singh took oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur in a swearing in ceremony in Imphal. With this, Biren Singh has succeeded Congress’ Ibobi Singh who had been the Chief minister of the state since 2012.
Meanwhile, BJP President Amit Shah and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu who was scheduled to attend the oath taking ceremony could not make it to the event after their flight developed a technical glitch and had to fly back to Delhi. Biren Singh who was former minister in the Congress-led government had joined BJP last year and was front-runner for BJP’s CM post.
