Shameful: Andhra Pradesh speaker compares women, sexual assaults to cars and accidents

Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker and Telagu Desam Party's MLA Kodela Shiva Prasad has compared women, sexual assaults to cars and accidents.

Commenting on sexual assault victims, our political leader have ashamed us time and again. But this time, the remarks have gone beyond the thin line. Taking it to another level Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker and Telagu Desam Party’s MLA Kodela Shiva Prasad has compared women and sexual assaults to cars and accidents.

Kodela Shiva Prasad said, “When they (women) are exposed to the society they are more prone to eve-teasing, harassment, atrocities, rape and kidnap.”

We have heard the worst about women from politicians.

“Let’s say you buy a vehicle. When it is parked in the garage at home, accidents can be avoided, right? When it bis taken to a bazaa or to the raod, accidents are likely to happen”, he added.

But then there is always another politician who will take it to the next level. He further asserted, “When they are exposed to the society they are more prone to eve-teasing, harassment, atrocities, rape and kidnap. Is it not? If they do not leave home, it doesn’t happen.”

Kodela Shiva Prasad made these comments during the media meet that was organised to elaborate the state’s plan to host the ‘National Women’s Parliament’ in its upcoming capital Amaravati.

He went on ahead saying, “today, the same women are studying, working, and also are doing business. They are exposed to the society.”

But soon he realised the foul words he spoke and made efforts to cover-up his remarks. He said, “that women should be taught to defend themselves and they should be free to go outside and work.”

“In older times, when women were housewives, they were safe from all kind of atrocities, except discrimination. Today, they are studying, working, and also are doing business. They are exposed to the society. When they are exposed to the society they are more prone to eve-teasing, harassment, atrocities, rape and kidnap. Is it not? If they do not leave home, it doesn’t happen.”
