Mangaluru’s first dog cafe opened its doors to animal lovers and their furry friends in April 2019. ‘K9-Resto Café’ has a special kitchen dedicated to preparing food for dogs and a floor for people to hang out with their pets. The restaurant serves Indian, Chinese & Continental food and also has a grooming centre for animals, a massage parlour and a day-care facility for dogs.
Karthik Shetty, the owner of K9 Resto Café, told TNM,
“I just wanted to combine my passion for opening a cafe with my love of dogs. Mangaluru has a lot of pet lovers and dog enthusiasts and a cafe like this is just what it needs. As an animal lover myself, I know that a lot of animal lovers want to spend quality time with their beloved pets beyond the four walls of their home.”
The café also has 9 in-house dogs of various breeds trained to interact with customers and their pets.
