The Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Theresa May, became an internet sensation while on a 3-nation trip to Africa. The country’s second female Prime Minister is called rather “stiff” and “unimpressive” but she decided to shed her image by dancing…or whatever she thought she was doing.
May’s dance diplomacy began in Cape Town where she met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and was greeted by a group of dancing students. But her efforts to match their steps rather came off as a ‘robot dance’. The video caused ripples in the United Kingdon Twitter circles, calling her ‘Maybot’. While most pleaded her to stop and called her moves ‘dreadful’, some gave her credit for not giving a damn about the international press and just going for it.
So, she casually shrugged away mockery on social media when, during a visit to the United Nations offices in Nairobi, Kenya, the normally private politician showed off her uniquely fancy footwork. Though many were thinking whether she was trying to pick a fruit on a farm.

But the internet didn’t quite give up. Now people have come up with #TheresaMayChallenge wherein some are copying the British Prime Minister’s steps while others are just happy to make a meme out of her.
