2017 was a year of revelations, not just for Hollywood but worldwide, as survivors of sexual abuse in the industry and outside shared their stories. From Harvey Weinstein to Kevin Spacey, Hollywood’s sexual predators were thrown under the spotlight and #MeToo was trending on social media. With such a hefty number of movies tied up with alleged sexual predators, wouldn’t you love it if there was a way to segregate and boycott these movies?
It’s natural to feel a little icky when you see these people on screen after knowing that they are alleged sexual abuser. A new website called Rotten Apples lets you check if a movie has an alleged sexual abuser (either in its cast or technical team) and lets you provide a feedback. Isn’t that a novel idea? Just type in the name of a film or TV series in their search bar and it’ll tell you if anyone in the entire crew has ever been accused of sexual misconduct. The website has a vast database and also provides a credible link to a news source to prove that the cast/crew member is an alleged sexual predator.

With new allegations coming in everyday, this site makes an effort to let you know which movies are affiliated with sexual abusers and also allows you to help them provide feedback, in case they miss out on a latest development on sexual harassment in the industry.
For instance, Morgan Spurlock’s Supersize Me is rated as Fresh Apples on the site, although the director has confessed to sexual misconduct.
While it’s completely up to you if you want to separate movies from the alleged crimes of the artists, Rotten Apples allows you to make an ethically and morally informed decision.
