RIP Flower Emoticon: Facebook removes the purple flower emoticon, leaving us in nostalgia

Facebook removed its flower emoticon and we can't just keep calm!

“Why did Kattapa kill Bahubali?” Now that the raging question which was lingering in our heads for far too long is no more a mystery,—thanks to the enthralling 3-hour experience of Bahubali 2: The Conclusion—most of the millennials are just entertaining themselves with Bahubali 2 memes, mild Twitter banters, and even learning new words like ‘Farrago’ (Ahem?!). We get it! The last few days have been rather dud for y’all but worry not folks because it’s time to unravel a new mystery.

If you were on a lookout from the last few days, you may have noticed a new flower emoticon on Facebook which symbolises “gratefulness”. The purple flower (grateful emoticon) was introduced by Facebook on Mother’s Day to let you express your impersonal feelings to your mothers and boy! we absolutely loved it. The purple flower was put along with other angry, sad and laughter emoticons, and was a great hit. We are all guilty of using it thousands of places even where we’d rather choose a poker face than being grateful, but we get it! The purple flower was lovely. So, when it was catching up with the rage and was slowly becoming your personal favourite, Facebook decided to remove it and poof! It evaporated into thin air.

Well, here’s what happened. Apparently, Facebook introduced the flaky flower emoticon to mark the special occasion of Mother’s Day (just like last year) and said in a statement, “In honour of Mother’s Day we are testing the ability for people in a few markets to leave a flower reaction”. One user posted a question on Facebook help community asking, “Where did the Thankful button go? It was an option for a few days along with the new Angry, Sad, etc. buttons as an alternative to the Like button. Please bring it back, Facebook. I really liked it, especially the animation that went with it on my iPhone?” The team replied, “Unfortunately the Thankful reaction was available only for Mother’s Day and has since been removed.”

People are expressing their shock over the disappearance of ‘Grateful’ emoticon, and we feel them:

Wondering, if you knew that information before? Well, you are not alone friend!
