Internet is a place full of jokes and dank memes. Honestly, memes are the best thing that has happened to social media. Think about it, there’s regular BS of Twitter banters, or celebrity dating gossip, or maybe even petty fights but that’s really a dud show (yawns). Memes are pure gold and they just keep on getting better and better. From Shakespeare’s ‘What’s in a name?’, Salt Bae, Cash Me Ousside girl’s ‘how about dah’, to the very recent ‘Trump touching orb’ and ‘the epic photograph of the first family of the US with Pope’, meme game is always strong. Indians are not too far left behind when it comes to innovating and perfecting the memes. The Indian meme game is very strong and boy, we can vouch for it. From Amrish Puri’s ‘Ao Kabhi Haveli Pe’ to Biswa’s ‘Ae Tatti Tera Naam Kya Hai’, Indian memes are pure gold. But there’s is one meme which hands down the best find ever is Pakistan’s ‘Bik Gayi Gormint Aunty’. She was the best find of 2016 and still continues to be the trendsetter of all meme.
We all want to vent out our frustration and couldn’t have said it better than Aunty Gormint herself. I guess there was something therapeutic about an old lady cussing the ‘gormint’, and we were all rooting for her. But now, apparently, there’s Aunty Gormint-2 in town who is equally hilarious if not better.
However, this can also be seen as a carefully manoeuvred trick to go viral. The woman is talking on the same lines as the original Aunty Gormint and even, the whole content of the video along with her dressing sense, and the usage of cuss words have a parallelism with the original video which made waves in Pakistan and India.
