Here's why people are wearing blue ribbons at the Oscars

Wondering why people are wearing those blue ribbons? Here's why!

The hottest accessory of 89th annual Oscar night is not a blingy designer clutch or a sky-high stiletto, it’s a blue ribbon that many celebs are spotted wearing.

A few actors and actresses entered the venue wearing blue ribbons attached to tuxes and gowns, while others got their blue ribbons as they strolled upon the red carpet on their way into the prestigious event.

The blue ribbons wore by these celebs at the Oscars are meant to show support to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a national non-profit legal organization defending individual liberties and rights.

Celebs are showing up wearing these ribbons to add a little political pizzazz to the starry night:

The ribbons are a part of their “Stand With A.C.L.U.” initiative. The nonprofit organization has seen a surge in donations since last month after Donald Trump issued an executive order restricting travel for refugees and citizens of seven major Muslim countries.

Post the Oscars, they have seen a huge surge in their Google search ranking too.

Justice served in style, indeed.
