Facebook is upping its ante against Google by transforming into a social media platform that not only allows you to stay connected with your friends and family but also helps you to plan your life.
The social media giant has released a bouquet of features that will address all your day-to-day concerns from booking a movie ticket or ordering food online to planning out your event calendar without even leaving Facebook!
Whether you are travelling to a new place or looking for salon suggestions, ‘Facebook Recommendations’ will help you to organise all your recommendations in one place. “When you write a Facebook post looking for advice on local places or services, you’ll have the option to turn on Recommendations for that post,” Facebook wrote in a blogpost.
Facebook has also revamped its Events feature. ‘Events’ will now help you plan your entire event calendar by suggesting events happening around you. So, from coming up concerts to meet-ups, Facebook is your one pit stop destination for keeping a track of all the events happening around you.
The standout feature is an update that enables you to book tickets for movies and events, order food online and book appointment with businesses without ever leaving Facebook. Now, you’ll be able to order food online through Delivery.com and Slice, request an appointment using ‘My Time’, get a quote from local-business via ‘Get Quote’ button and book tickets for events via Fandango, Ticketmaster and Eventbrite.
However, there’s a catch! As of now, these features are available in the United States alone. But if they perform well, the company will soon roll out these features in other countries as well. So, if you’re living outside the US, stay put coz Santa will surely come home!
