In pics: Meet Carmelo, the most adorable and furry monastery resident ever

A monastery in Bolivia adopted this stray Schnauzer and he is now officially Friar Bigoton, meaning Friar Moustache.

You must think of monks as the most boring variety of people. We cannot speak for them all, but the ones at the Franciscan Monastery of Cochabamba in Bolivia are surely not here to fit into that definition. For those of you wondering why we are talking about monks, this is no ordinary monk we are talking about but one that is furry and adorable and walks on all fours.

Carmelo, the latest addition to Franciscan Monastery’s monks is the cutest one you will see in a long time. Referred to as brother Carmelo by his fellow monks, the stray schnauzer has been adopted by the monastery and he is fulfilling his duty to look like his fellow monks as well. Carmelo’s formal name is Friar Bigoton and his fellow monks say they are all elated to have him around. Also, Friar Bigoton translates to Friar Moustache.

His new life consists of running about and playing the whole day and understandably he has added a lot more fervour to the otherwise quiet life at the monastery. Kasper Mariusz Kaproń Ofm shared these photos of Carmelo on Facebook and as expected everyone seems to love the pooch.

St. Francis of Assisi has been the patron Saint of animals in Catholic belief and he would surely be happy to see Carmelo living in such harmony with his fellow monks. Check out a few photos of Friar Bigoton, a.k.a Carmelo and let him make your day.
