Since Bollywood seems to have sworn that every goddamn movie will have a rehashed version of an old classic, we’re scared. Really scared.
Don’t get us wrong, not all remixes are bad. In fact, we’ve seen a lot of remixes by independent artists that are catchier than the original ones. It’s just that Bollywood sucks at it, big time. Case in point- Sonakshi Sinha’s ‘Mungda’ in Total Dhamaal. The video is horrible and the music is 10 times worse than the video. Ruins the original song completely.
We’re scared in giving out the list ‘cuz we don’t wanna give Bollywood no ideas, but here goes. Here’s a list of 7 iconic classics that Bollywood shouldn’t even think of rehashing for a new movie-
Ye Shaam Mastani
The beautiful tunes, the meaningful lyrics and the calming acoustic guitar. Can you imagine Bollywood ruining this with EDM? aarrgghhh.
Neele Neele Ambar Par
I can already imagine Bollywood turning this beautiful romantic song into a sleazy item number with (enter some irrelevant rapper’s name) rapping in the background. Pls don’t. Pls.
Yeh Sama, Sama Hai Ye Pyar Ka
Another sensuous song that’ll be turned into something you can’t even watch with your friends. Actress Nanda kept it classy and uber sophisticated which most actors will fail to do. Let’s not even begin to talk about what they’ll do to the tunes.
Yaadon Ki Baaraat
A real tear-jerker, this song gave us goosebumps when we didn’t even understand the lyrics. No music producer should be allowed to touch this gem!
Aane Wala Pal
Unless it’s an unplugged version, any rehash of this beautiful, slow number would be an insult to Kishore Kumar. Any Kishore Kumar song should be off limits TBH.
Musafir Hon Yaaron
The ultimate road trip song since 1972. We don’t want someone to add random techno beats and shoot this while (enter some irrelevant overrated actor’s name) waves his hand in the air as he travels top down in his Mercedes Benz.
Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye
The old-timey acoustics are etched in our hearts and no one can remake this song that just makes you feel so warm inside. Do you really want Honey Singh to ruin this one?
