Dear selectors, Yuvraj Singh deserves a chance after ton in Ranji

Fans are happy after Yuvraj Singh's century

Swashbuckling batsman Yuvraj Singh scored an exquisite hundred in Ranji trophy match against Madhya Pradesh. The great batsman scored 177 runs in 295 balls. He struck 24 boundaries to complete his 25th domestic hundred. With his help, Punjab reached 347 runs on the first day . The century became the talking point on social media as Yuvraj Singh was trending on social networking websites, which clearly shows how popular he is among the masses.

The knock is also special as it revived the memory of him coming to bat and extricating Team India from dire situations. He had come to bat against MP when Punjab was tottering at 15 for 2. How many times the champion has done that for India. Gurkeerat Mann also helped Yuvraj as he scored an impressive 101 not out.

Yuvraj Singh was not in the thick of things even on domestic circuit. The southpaw had been struggling to score runs. He had dismal show in Duleep trophy scoring 50-odd runs in 5 innings. His first match against Railways in Ranji trophy this season was also a big failure. He scored a dismal 26 runs in both the innings. In all, it was terrible performance by his standards. This century will definitely bring smile to his face. His fans are already smiling.

This century may also help him to make inroads in India’s national team. Yuvraj has never been known for Test matches. But, he is a specialist when it comes to the shorter formats. Yuvraj Singh was picked for T20 series against Australia. He didn’t get a chance to bat in the first 2 T20s. But, he steered India home in the third. In T20 World Cup also, Yuvraj Singh performed before being ruled out of the tournament due to ankle injury. After that came a dry spell in domestic circuit. He was getting starts. But, he was not getting a big score. This century will ease that pressure.

Yuvraj Singh has been a great asset to Indian cricket. He was instrumental in T20 World Cup win. He also made us win the ODI World Cup in 2011. Unfortunately, cancer threw him out of gear. After he recuperated, he has not been able to perform consistently. But, he has shown his talent on some occasions, which shows he may have lost his touch a little bit, but he can easily get it back.

The new selectors have given Gambhir a chance after his stupendous show in domestic circuit. He performed really well against New Zealand in the third Test. Though, Yuvraj was not picked for ODIs against New Zealand, this knock should be considered when the selection panel sits next to decide. Yuvraj Singh is a match-winner and he deserves a chance.
