The tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to commence from April 5 and all the 8 teams are getting ready to participate in the 46-day long tournament while the fans are eagerly waiting for the show to begin. Meanwhile, the IPL Organising Committee has decided to give a chance to THREE Lucky Winners who will share the stage among the existing cheerleaders and perform at the IPL opening ceremony on April 4 and during the games throughout the tournament.
The screen-test had started already on March 30 for which the models from different corners of India have submitted their entries. As per the sources, the IPL committee has appointed a panel of 4 jury members who will select the winners. However, no information about the jury panel has been disclosed officially but rumour has it that Anu Malik and Sherlyn Chopra are two of the jury members.
The final result will be out on April 3 while all the winners will make their debut and perform first on April 4 during the IPL Opening ceremony. All the three winners will go through a rigorous training program and then participate in the main events till May 21.
Apart from performing during the games, the of the cheerleaders will be nominated as the best performer of the season. According to the sources, to add a new element in the format, the IPL committee has also announced a trophy for the ‘Best Cheerleader of the Season’ along with a cash prize of RS 50 lakh and a Vivo smartphone.
This decision has been taken by the committee to give an opportunity to the Indian artists in place of the foreign performers and promote Indian culture. In the earlier editions, from 2010 to 2013, the cheerleaders of Pune Warrior India (PWI), owned by Subrata Roy Sahara, used to don sarees and perform during the matches. Similarly, cheerleaders from the Punjab team have also been spotted in Indian attires.
