Virat Kohli has been dethroned from No 1 ICC ODI batsman ranking by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate AB de Villiers. Though Team India is playing splendidly, Kohli has had a bumpy road as he could only score big in one match in the recently concluded India vs Australia series. De Villiers, on the other hand, made an emphatic comeback scoring 176 runs off 104 balls against Bangladesh in the second ODI. De Villiers is just 2 points ahead of Kohli and jumped two spots to become the No 1 batsman in ICC ODI rankings. He surpassed Kohli and Australian opener David Warner to get to the top spot.
The ICC ODI batsman rankings might witness a shuffle in the coming days as De Villiers and Kohli both have more ODIs to play. With ODI series against New Zealand starting October 22, Kohli has every chance of regaining the top spot.
A surprise inclusion in the top five is of Pakistan’s Babar Azam after he achieved career-best ratings to get to the fourth spot. Rohit Sharma lost two positions as well moving to the 5th position as Quinton de Kock and Azam climbed up the list and on the flip side, MS Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan retained the 12th and 14th position. There was one major change in the rankings as Mushfiqur Rahim took a giant leap forward jumping 5 spots after becoming the first Bangladesh batsman to score a century in South Africa.
