This Feat Of Yuzvendra Chahal Will Prove How Bad Was Indian Batting Lineup In 4th ODI

And for the first time, Chahal's ODI batting average is in double figures

Guys, the impossible has happened. Yuzvendra Chahal has ended up being India’s top scorer in an ODI. Chahal did justice to the legendary MRF sponsor sticker on his bat as he scored 18 runs in an ODI where India bundled out for a meagre 92. Swinging deliveries got the better of Indian batsmen as Indian batting line-up collapsed like nine pins today.

Chahal came in to bat when India were 8 for 55. He succeeded in defending the last two deliveries of Trent Boult’s quota. He tried to stitch a partnership with Kuldeep Yadav. The 35-run 9th wicket partnership turned out to be the highest of India’s innings. The leg spinner remained unbeaten for 18 off 37 deliveries including 3 boundaries.

With 18 runs, the leg-spinner became India’s second number 10 batsman to top score in an ODI. Former Indian cricketer Javagal Srinath was the first one when he scored 43 against Pakistan two decades ago in Toronto.

In interviews, we have seen Chahal jokingly complain that he is not promoted up the order. Once in a Ranji match, he even played 76 dot deliveries before getting out for a duck.

In 2nd ODI of India’s tour of England in 2018, Chahal got an applause for hitting a straight drive for a boundary. Players were laughing in the dressing room on seeing Chahal bat like that. Little did we know that the 28-year-old will end up deserving the applause for his batting in the near future.

Twitter had something to cheer as Chahal faced most deliveries by an Indian batsman in the 4th ODI:

Great time to be alive
