Sam Curran To Play For Royal Challengers Bangalore In IPL 2019?

Having watched Sam Curran closely, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli might vouch for the English all-rounder for the next season

20-year-old all-rounder Sam Curran made his international debut in the ongoing Test series. Curran has been influential in every Test match he has played so far. His impact in the Test series is such that he is the second-highest run-scorer (251 runs at an average of 30.20) for England despite sitting out one Test. He may have taken just 8 wickets but they have been significant ones including Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

Many agree that Curran should be named Man of the Series for his outstanding performances. Owing to his four gritty half-centuries against the in-form bowling lineup, the Surrey all-rounder might just get an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract next season.

According to a report by The GuardianRoyal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the teams which is interested in roping him for IPL 2019. The left-hander has seemed to impress Kohli with his bowling by taking his wicket in the Northampton Test.

All-rounders are always favoured in IPL auctions. Another England all-rounder, Ben Stokes is a testimony to that. Stokes was roped in for Rs 14.5 crores, Rs 12.5 crores in IPL 2017 and 2018 respectively. One can expect that franchises may engage in a bidding war if Curran continues to play like this.

His brother, Tom Curran has already made his debut in IPL. Tom played for two-time title-winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He replaced injured Mitchell Starc in the side. However, he did not have much impact taking just 6 wickets from 5 games at a mediocre economy rate of 11.60.
